Paul HittandClaude Fable 5.1 2fa430f21c API-style comments and ktlint formatting
Every comment is reduced to its first sentence plus @param, @return
and @throws tags. Comment lines: 20040 to 8526. ktlint 1.8 applied
with its default (official Kotlin) style across all modules; 262 files
reformatted. The 264 remaining ktlint findings are naming and filename
rules, which are code changes, and are left alone.

Comments and formatting only. 1208 tests pass, counted from the XML.

Paul HittandClaude Fable 5.1 4dd544083c Remove machine-writing tells from comments and docs
Emoji markers, markdown bold inside code comments, and em-dashes are
gone from source comments, string literals, scripts, Gradle files and
the markdown docs. Counted before and after:

emoji markers 2680 -> 1 (the emoji picker's own list, which is the feature)
  em-dashes       2490 -> 9 (table placeholders and fenced code)

Two warning glyphs in user-facing strings in ChatScreens.kt are removed
as well; the sentences say the same thing without them. Two backtick
test names carried an em-dash and now carry a comma.

Nothing else changed. 1208 tests pass, counted from the result XML.
The three obfs4 interop tests are opted out with OBFS4_INTEROP_OPTOUT=1
for this run, as their own message instructs when no bridge is set up.

CONTRIBUTING gets a four-line rule so it does not grow back.

Paul Hitt adf7858940 Post several pictures as one story sequence (§6.23)
Taken by hand rather than cherry-picked, for the same reason as the
archive: the original was cut from a tree where text stories looked
different from the version rebuilt on this branch, and applying it whole
would have added a second `isTextStory`/`storyExpiry` beside the
existing `textStoryExpires`.

What came across is the sequence and nothing else — the `StorySet` wire
shape, the field on a story, and the two rules that decide how a set
behaves when it does not all arrive.

🔴 One envelope per item, sharing one set id. An array of attachments in
a single envelope is the obvious encoding and degrades badly: a client
predating §6.23 requires a single `att`, fails the guard, and renders
the whole set as a message in the conversation. Separate envelopes
degrade to several stories in order, which every existing build already
draws correctly.

🔴 `setExpiry` takes the EARLIEST. Every item is required to carry the
same `exp`, but a sender can write different ones — and if the latest
won, the difference would be a way to keep part of a sequence alive
after the rest had gone. A text story has no attachment and contributes
nothing, so one in a set cannot drag the shared expiry to zero.

⚠️ `groupedStories` renders what arrived. `n` is the sender's claim and
any item can fail to arrive, so a set is never held back or shown as
incomplete — a missing item is indistinguishable from one never sent.

777 tests green across app, engine and client, up from 648.

Paul Hitt aebf41ed95 Put the app back to the last state that worked
Tonight's merges left sign-in, messages, calls and stories broken. Restores
app, engine and client to fa92581 — the tree that shipped as v8 and works.

Why they broke: those features are not independent. A message, a call
signal, a story and a story reply are the same content envelope with a
different kind, so they run through the same few functions in Content.kt.
Twenty-three MRs, each written against an older main and green on its own
branch, had never existed together until they were merged in one evening.

The conflicts that produced were resolved mechanically — union a parameter
list, merge a condition — and that produces code which compiles and passes
while being wrong: a field on the wrong struct, an argument in the wrong
order, a term in the wrong condition. Three were caught by the compiler.
The ones the compiler cannot see are why calls stopped connecting.

And the gate could not see any of it. 489 unit tests stayed green through
every break, because they test units: "assemble produces this JSON" is a
unit test, "Android shows what iOS sent" is not.

versionCode 10 so it installs over the broken v9.

Nothing is lost — every MR is still a merged commit with its branch on the
remote, and re-lands in small batches once there is a test that actually
sends a message between two devices.

Paul HittandClaude Opus 4.8 d525ef3d69 Post several pictures as one story sequence
Android half of ios#53, spec §6.23. Each item is an ordinary story
envelope carrying a `set` naming the sequence, its position and its size.

🔴 One envelope per item rather than an array of attachments. The array
fails the single-`att` guard on any build predating §6.23 and renders the
whole set as a message in the conversation; separate envelopes degrade to
several stories in order, which every existing build already draws.

🔴 `setExpiry` takes the earliest stamp. Items are required to carry the
same one, but a sender can write different ones, and if the latest won
the difference would keep part of a sequence alive after the rest had
gone. A zero is skipped rather than read as "expires at the epoch",
which would kill the whole set.

⚠️ `groupedStories` renders what arrived: `n` is a claim, any item can
fail to arrive, and a missing one is indistinguishable from one never
sent. Stories with no set are keyed so two of them cannot collide.

⚠️ The set is persisted, or a relaunch scatters every sequence back into
loose stories.
